CUSTOM  PRINTING

Custom Printing can be divided roughly into four categories:

SOLID
COLOR
Solid Color  printing, which is the least expensive type of printing we do, includes text and artwork that has no shading or "gray scale" tints.
GRAY
SCALE
Gray Scale  work can be printed in black ink as the name implies and in any other single color ink as well, and includes the full range of tints of that color such as are found in a monochrome photo. This type of work requires a standard metal printing plate or a digitally produced polyester plate and can include short or long runs.
SPOT
COLOR
Spot Color  work includes pieces that utilize one or more ink colors specified by the customer. Typical uses would be logo reproduction, duo tones and metallic or other specialty inks. More than one spot color would require digital color separation and the use of metal plates as in Gray scale or Process Color production.
PROCESS
COLOR
Process Color  is the standard method to produce faithful reproductions of color photographs. In typical 4 color process printing, successive applications of the colors Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black are applied to substrate (e.g. paper) to reproduce all the rich and varied colors found in a typical color photo. Process Color Printing is achieved through a combination of computer & printing press technology and skilled workmanship.

Until recently, print shops typically limited themselves to the application of ink to paper. They would depend upon outside agencies such as design firms and service bureaus to provide them with artwork, photo scans and negatives for plate production.

The slow turn around and extra cost associated with this sub-contracting moved the industry toward in-house production in all facets of the process.

Sault Printing Company is on the leading edge of that trend. From design and digitization to the application of ink on paper, every step of the printing process is done in-house, directed and controlled by a team of two: The Customer and Sault Printing Company.

IN HOUSE PRODUCTION MEANS:
  • Faster turn around:
We've cut our turn around time by 3 to 5 days in some cases.

  • Lower cost:
Lowering our outside source overhead allows us to pass the savings along to our clients.

  • Local control:
The customer can be involved in every step of the process, insuring that our results match their intentions.

Ron Maleport      Now more than ever our customers expect faster turn around and increased flexibility without sacrificing product quality. At Sault Printing Company, our goal is to meet and exceed those expectations.
